Why Learn Spanish? This is a question I'm asked many times, not only by adults looking to broaden their own horizons, but also with regard to their children's education. When they are approaching the age of taking on a second language at school they will ask themselves which language they think they should take, and which will be of most benefit to them. Should it be Spanish, French, German, or Italian? If it's Spanish, then Why Learn Spanish? Well, here's a few suggestions as to why you should learn Spanish. 1/ Easy To Learn Spanish is probably one of the easiest languages to learn. It has a real system and logic both in pronunciation and verb structure. Yes, there are some irregularities but once identified they can be easily memorized. The great thing is that phonetically, there is no real variation. Let me give you an example, to illustrate this further. In English, there are a number of words that are spelled differently but pronounced exactly the same, like: there, their, they're all su, son know, no saber, no wear, ware (as in be-ware), where. vestir, cuidado, dnde As you can see, this doesn't happen in Spanish. Once you learn the phonetics, that's it! All words comply to the same rules. No nasty surprises. Check out my link at the bottom of this article for some great programs to get you learning Spanish super fast. 2/ Number Of Speakers The Spanish language is regarded as the second most widely spoken language in the world - second only to Mandarin, with 330 million and 900 million speakers respectively. If you speak Spanish and English you can go pretty much anywhere in the world. It's also probably one of the most fashionable languages in the world today, with the influx and admiration for Latin music, culture, and lifestyle, more and more people are wanting to improve their grasp and knowledge of this beautiful language. 3/ Employment Opportunities & Emerging Economies In Latin America After many years of oppression, neglect, and exploitation the countries of Latin America are finally beginning to emerge, and make an impact on Global Markets. With huge natural resources, and significant man power at their disposal, the economies in these countries will be a force to be reckoned with in the coming decades. Now is the time to prepare yourself and make use of the opportunity to learn Spanish. Companies are in need of competent Spanish speakers. Become indispensable, and earn more - learn Spanish today! 4/ Dream Holiday Destination Spain and other Spanish speaking countries have become the destination of choice for holiday-makers and sun-seekers - in particular the British and Germans. Beautiful sun-kissed beaches, wonderful climate, better pace of life, and unmatched cuisine have been completely embraced by the British and Germans; so much so that Spain is becoming the second home / retirement destination for thousands of people. With so many of us heading off to warmer climes in search of sun, sea, sand and sangria, it makes sense to learn some Spanish, right?
